Jessica Schafer is a Financial Advisor at J.P. King Advisors. She is a CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER® and has been working in the financial services industry since 2002. In 2010 she opened her own business as a solo independent financial advisor under the broker-dealer American Investors Company. Then in 2016 she merged her business, taking advantage of the synergies, wisdom, and collaborative environment at J.P. King Advisors. Jessica graduated cum laude with a Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration and an option in Finance from California State University Hayward. She then completed U.C. Berkeley’s extension program Professional Sequence in Personal Financial Planning. Jessica was born and raised in Dublin, CA. She now lives in Concord with her husband and two rambunctious dogs. On the weekends you will often find her in Tahoe where she enjoys skiing, hiking, and mountain biking.

Scott Horton has spent his career helping people invest and manage portfolios. Prior to joining J.P. King Advisors in 2008, Scott was a Vice President with Fidelity Investments Private Client Group. He was responsible for managing over 550 high net worth client relationships, exceeding $1 Billion in total assets. He specialized in portfolio management and retirement planning services. Scott spent 12 years working at Fidelity Investments. He began his financial services career in 1995 as an Account Executive with Morgan Stanley Dean Witter.Scott received a Bachelor of Science degree in Managerial Economics from the University of California at Davis, and a Master of Science degree in Finance from Golden Gate University. He also completed a graduate certificate in Financial Planning at Golden Gate University. He is a CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER™ practitioner.

Scott lives in Alamo with his wife Candice, and two children. He is a fifth generation Californian; his great-great-grandfather moved to California in 1872.

Outside of work some of his favorite activities are cycling, (road and mountain), traveling, and playing guitar. He has a deep passion for music and one of his hobbies is collecting Rock & Roll concert posters, especially those from shows at the Fillmore in San Francisco. He has over 50 framed posters displayed in his collection.

Justin Dodson is a Principal at J.P. King Advisors, Inc. and has been employed in the securities industry since 2000 when he joined Paine Webber, now UBS Wealth Management. Prior to joining J.P. King Advisors he was a Vice President, Senior Account Executive with Fidelity Investments Private Client Group. Justin works extensively in all areas of personal financial planning and investment management. Born and raised in the Sonoma Valley Justin and his wife Karin moved to the Clayton Valley in 2000 after he received his Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration with an emphasis on Finance from Sonoma State University. His older of two daughters Leila currently attends SSU and is a third generation Seawolf. His younger daughter Ava attends Clayton Valley Charter High School.

Doug Villing is a Financial Advisor at J.P. King Advisors, Inc. and has been employed in the securities industry since 1997 when he joined Fidelity Investments. Prior to joining J.P. King Advisors he was a Wealth Management advisor for TIAA for the last 8 years. At TIAA, he advised employees working for Bay Area universities, research institutions, law schools and retirees from around the country. During his time with the company, he broadened his understanding of complex planning concepts, estate and tax planning, and life insurance. When offered the chance to fulfill his lifelong goal in working with a smaller client base, he seized the opportunity. His vision with J.P. King Advisors was to capitalize on his extensive experience at two highly respected companies, by creating a more personalized and in-depth financial planning practice, offering his clients more tailored portfolio planning, as a primary point of contact with their accounts.

Born and raised in Cincinnati, Ohio, Doug moved to San Francisco in 1999 after he received his Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration with an emphasis on Marketing from Northern Kentucky University. In his spare time you will find him spending time with his two teenage daughters, boating, golfing and watching sports.

Jonathan Gonzalez has been with J.P. King Advisors, Inc. since 2010. Originally entering the firm as an Administrative Associate, he has spent many years working closely with our clients to build strong relationships and ensure that their needs are met at a high level. As a Financial Advisor his responsibilities include working directly with clients throughout all phases of the financial planning process, as well as many different facets of the firm’s overall operations. Prior to joining J.P. King Advisors, Jonathan worked for J.P. Morgan Chase Bank where he became experienced in the financial industry, specifically in helping clients meet their financial goals and expectations. A graduate of Saint Mary’s College of California, Jonathan earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration with a minor in Economics in 2009. He also completed U.C. Berkeley’s extension program in Personal Financial Planning. He is a CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER™.

Jonathan is a lifelong East Bay resident, having been born and raised in Pittsburg and now living in Concord with his wife Rachel. In his spare time he enjoys golfing and pursuing his passion for vintage automobiles by taking in the various shows and races around the Bay Area and working on his own classic cars.

Mark Norris joined the firm in March 2015 as an administrative assistant. He brings over 9 years of experience in the financial planning industry and is primarily involved with billing and advisor-supporting processes. Mark’s background in financial planning began in 2007 when he went to work for Cannon Beach Consultants, Inc. as a client service advisor. During his seven years with Cannon Beach, Mark was in charge of all aspects of client service including distributions, transfers, rollovers, account setup and maintenance, new client on-boarding, and retirement account distribution tracking. Mark also prepared for and passed the Series 7 and Series 66 exams during his time with Cannon Beach. Mark received his Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of California at Irvine in Social Ecology. He briefly considered law school, but ultimately decided that a career in the financial planning industry better suited his talents. Mark lives in Pleasant Hill with his wife Geralyn and their two sons Sean and Zachary. Having grown up in the Tahoe area, Mark is an avid outdoorsman. In his free time you will find him camping, fishing, or on the trail training for his next big hike. In the past 10 years Mark has hiked to the top of Half Dome over 10 times and hopes to continue the annual tradition with his growing boys.

Heather Breneman is the Administrative Assistant at J.P. King Advisors, Inc. She joined the team in October 2021 and has been assisting the staff and clients with their daily needs with a high degree of accuracy and professionalism.

Heather was born and raised in the East Bay but has also lived a portion of her life amongst the scenic red rock landscape of Southern Utah. After her return to the East Bay she graduated from dental assisting school but took time off to dedicate her time and attention raising her two sweet daughters.

Heather now lives in Pleasant Hill and when not in the office you can catch her outdoors hiking or running along the many trails in the area.
